About this event

The Broadcaster and Distributor Contact Exchange

Now that several funds have just announced their deadlines where a broadcaster trigger must be attached, this is a great time to add to your broadcaster and distributor contact rolodex.

Film and TV projects that have any chance of getting funded and made in Canada usually have some form of broadcaster and/or distributor involvement, usually (but not always) early on in the project's life cycle.

With the vast number of broadcasters, distributors and sales agents out there, it would be great to understand who is wanting what type of projects and how to contact them.

On Wednesday, June 11th, at 5pm PST/8pm EST for approximately half an hour, producers and filmmakers are invited to join a session where we will share valuable contacts for broadcasting and film commissioning/buyers.

Here's how it works:

  • This session will be offered a few times a year.
  • There is no minimum or maximum number of people attending.
  • Each participant must currently have, and be willing to talk about, at least two high-value contacts for Canadian broadcasters, distributors or sales agents and share their contact information. Streamers and small studios who have a Canadian presence are also ok.
  • At least one contact from the participants must be unique for that session (there is no point in everyone sharing the same contact. This will be screened for after you register).
  • This can be for any type of audiovisual entertainment, from episodic, format, reality, feature film…
  • Time permitting, there will also be networking time to talk about how to approach commissioning managers and buyers in general as well as how to find additional funding to top-up the broadcaster/distributor contribution.

Benefits include:

  • Each participant will have access to vetted industry contacts to add to your rolodex.
  • You will get insights and understanding about what the broadcaster or distributor does and the type of content they work with.
  • You will get ideas for new project opportunities.
  • There may be a discussion on additional ways to add to your project's funding/finance strategy.
  • By the end of each session, participants will have gained a number of new qualified contacts in the broadcasting and distribution space, along with context for what they may be looking for.
